Bess and I were the representing Minty's in the 1/2/3 race and what a pack it was. All the local heavy hitters were there...4 from Tibco (including national champ Brooke Miller), Webcor Builders, Sugar CRM, Touchstone, Vanderkitten, PROMAN, Specialized, Yahoo...you get the picture.
Bess and I lined up at the front middle and at the gun Bess was off, she took that sketchy first right hander like a champ and I got gapped!! I hate that corner, but by the end i was taking it pretty good. As expected Tibco controlled the group, attacking and chasing down Olivia (who was off for a while and got most aggressive rider) and other attacks by Webcor and Sugar CRM. So in a nutshell...it was fast and they shredded down the field.
Coming into a prime a couple Tibco girls started moving up on the outside left and I followed as they moved up to lead the climb for Brooke. I attacked from the bottom of that stupid hill but managed to hold on for the prime!!!! I guess I got enough of a jump on them that they didn't bother to come after me. But damn that hurt!!! and I got a sweet shout out along the lines of "Amanda Seigle of Metromint upsetting the Tibco train" I felt totally cool!! That is my second prime ever! And my first doesn't really count since i was solo at the Giro and didn't have to sprint anyone for it.
Tibco put the power down for the entire last lap, but I held on and finished 10th.
What a good start to the season!
